# Administration Model: Roles and Responsibilities

The LARK uses a centralized administration model. An administrator manages the appliance, its users, and its applications through a small set of management interfaces, rather than configuring each part separately.

Most of the appliance operates autonomously. Internal networking, service startup, and data handling are automated, so administration is concentrated on two functions: managing access, and managing the installed applications. Both are handled through Rancher, which manages applications, and Keycloak, which manages identity and access. Both are web-based, with secure shell (SSH) access available for lower-level tasks.

<Note>
  The individual administrative functions, managing applications, managing users, and checking system status, are each covered on a dedicated page in this section.
