# Kit Overview

The LARK is delivered as a fully assembled, pre-configured unit. It arrives ready to operate, with no internal components to install and no configuration required before first use.

At its core is a single ruggedized server, or three servers on the APEX model, housed within a protective transport case. The case allows the appliance to be moved and set up as a single unit while keeping the hardware protected. Supporting items such as a switch, a laptop, and network capture hardware may accompany the appliance depending on the kit ordered; these are described on the components page.

  Although the case is ruggedized, the appliance must be handled with care during transport and setup. Handling and transport guidance is provided in a dedicated section.

## Physical characteristics

The appliance is housed in a sealed, ruggedized case with the following characteristics:

The case is a self-contained enclosure. All internal hardware is permanently mounted, and the appliance is intended to be treated as a sealed unit. No items are to be added to or removed from the interior beyond the components that are inserted and removed during normal setup and shutdown, which are described in the setup and maintenance sections.

## Kit contents

Every kit includes the appliance and the items required to power it and bring it online. Additional contents depend on the configuration ordered. Optional equipment, such as laptops, a switch, or network TAPs, is available and is included when ordered; equivalent customer-supplied equipment may be used in its place.

The components page describes each item that may be part of a kit and identifies which items are optional. A per-kit delivery record accompanies each appliance and lists its exact contents.
