The LARK is designed to be set up quickly and with minimal configuration. In summary, setup consists of placing the appliance, powering it on, connecting it for access, and connecting a traffic source for monitoring. Once powered on, the appliance brings all of its services online automatically, with no manual configuration required.

Place and power the appliance
Position the appliance on a stable surface and connect it to a stable power source.
Reinstall the transport components
Reinstall the BMC/NIC component and the power supply, which are removed for transport.
Connect for access
Connect the appliance so its tools can be reached, either through a switch or from a laptop directly.
Connect a traffic source
Deliver a copy of network traffic to the TAP Ingress Port from a TAP or a switch SPAN (mirror) port.
Verify and begin
Confirm the appliance has come online, sign in, and begin operation.
Automated functions
Most of the appliance’s operation is automated. Once powered on, data capture, processing, storage, and analysis all run automatically. Internal networking, service discovery, and access control are configured by the appliance itself. No manual configuration of networking, routing, or the data pipeline is required.
Because traffic is monitored passively from a copy, connecting the appliance to a network does not affect the network’s performance or introduce latency. The appliance never sits inline.
